Sinus Pain : :

If you are one of the many people who suffer from sinus or allergy related disorders, you will be glad to know that acupuncture has been shown to be an effective treatment.

Dr. Allen Liao, Doctor of Oriental Medicine and licensed Acupuncturist, has been treating sinus problems successfully for over twenty-five years. His treatments eliminate the source of the problem—not just the symptoms. With sinus problems, if the immune system is not healthy, the problem will keep recurring.

One common symptom of a sinus condition is dry, thick mucus. When this happens, it not only blocks the sinus ducts, but also the canal formed but the nose, throat and air ducts that connect the respiratory system with the ear. The degree of blockage is what determines the severity of the headaches and sinus pain.

Sinus problems can vary from intense to mild. There are three types of sinusitis.

Acute sinusitis :

this can produce headaches, fever, chills, mental sluggishness, loss of smell, toothache, facial pain, cranial pressure, occasional dizziness, and vomiting. Acute sinusitis is frequently brought on by a bacterial infection such as the common cold, or virus.

Chronic sinusitis:

may be caused by small growths in the nose, a deviated septum, nasal polyps, irritating fumes, smells, and/ or smoking.

Allergic sinusitis:

can be caused by hay fever, food and environmental allergies.

A treatment may include: acupuncture, acupressure, electrical stimulation, and herbs. The number of treatments will depend on the severity of the condition and duration of the problem.

Dr. Liao will tailor a personal treatment program to achieve the following results:

  1. A healthy immune system.
  2. Elimination of sinus drainage.
  3. Uncongested sinuses.
  4. Improved circulation in the sinus cavity, which in turn will prevent dry thick stationary mucus.

Dr. Liao has successfully treated all of the above sinus conditions and suggests that if you have any of these problems do not delay treatment. Untreated sinus problems can progress to more serious complications such as ear problems, acute bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia and even meningitis.
